Invitation: Expert session on sustainability in investment decisions – February 11, Amsterdam

Invitation: Expert session on sustainability in investment decisions – February 11, Amsterdam
January 20, 2016 Rolf Bastiaanssen

Sustainability and energy efficiency are becoming increasingly important factors in making investment decisions on the renovation of (social) housing. The relationship between such investments and the housing valuation is less evident.

The REVALUE project is inviting experts from municipalities, housing corporations, the financial sector and appraisers to discuss the developments in this field:

  • How do investor landlords determine their expected/required return on investment, and the best value for money?
  • Would a revision to ‘appraisal norms and standards’ require more explicitly consideration of Energy Efficiency, and help to facilitate in decision-making?
  • What additional (or different) information would give funders greater confidence or/and ability to fund energy efficiency improvements?

The discussion is part of an international process led by RICS UK in preparation to an update in guidance with regard to valuation of energy efficiency in homes.

The session will be facilitated by Sarah Sayce, Professor Emeritus at Kingston University and a member of the UNEP FI working group, with the participation of, among others, UK RICS Valuation director Fiona Haggett and Maarten Vermeulen, Managing Director Europe RICS. The official language is English.
