Stakeholders from cities, regions, industry and the financial sector participated in the Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place Conference. The event was organized by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EASME) in Brussels on 18-19 January 2017.
During the conference, ongoing initiatives that contribute to improving access to finance for energy efficiency were presented. In sessions focused on policy instruments to increase the use of financial instruments to drive energy efficiency in buildings, participants discussed the need to better understand the financial benefits of energy efficiency, something that is currently being studied in the REVALUE project. Also, representatives from the European Investment Bank, the Climate Bonds initiative, and the European Mortgage Foundation presented ongoing and new initiatives to access finance for renovation. Steven Fawkes from Energy Pro, presented their views on standardization, data and risk for energy efficiency investments. In the breakout sessions, European projects within both the private and public sector, as well as projects that have taken an innovative approach to financing renovation were also discussed
